U.S. far-right groups the Proud Boys and the Base have been designated “terrorist organizations” by New Zealand’s government this week, joining the ranks of 18 other groups the country has labeled, including ISIS.  

Designation as a terrorist organization means it is illegal to fund, participate in or recruit for the organizations. The Proud Boys are also designated as a terrorist entity in Canada.
